Sessions

What happens during a session?

During a session,  your child will be asked to …

  • participate and have fun
  • answer questions, discuss and complete work and submit it
  • choose topics and activities
  • download a short piece of reading or work to complete between sessions.
  • occasionally, bring an item of interest to the session
    – for younger children – dried beans, bottle tops for counting, comic book etc.
    – for older children – a book, curio, fossil, a newspaper clipping, a hyperlink etc.

Interaction makes for easy learning, effective and memorable sessions!

We offer both in-person and online tutoring

In-person Tutoring

In-person tutoring typically takes places at a library. Contact us! Find out about in-person tutoring in your local area.

Online Tutoring

What makes online tuition the smart choice?

SAFE
Your child learns with their tutor online via an online meeting application.
You can sit in on the session and the session can be conducted in the safety of your home.
Our tutors have DBS clearance, a wealth of experience and use current methods.

EFFECTIVE
One-to-one tuition allows students to focus and therefore learn more quickly than when immersed in a peer group.  The tutor is continually checking learning and so is more able to build upon the child’s understanding to cover the necessary material.

FLEXIBLE
Online lessons can be conducted in your home, at a library or even enroute to another extra -curricular class. Wherever your child feels able to participate!

ACCESSIBLE
All you need is an online connection (broadband, wi-fi or hotspot) and a device with a webcam (tablet, laptop, desktop computer etc.) and perhaps some headphones.

FUN
Many children enjoy online interaction, particularly using the computer to access learning.  Children have a familiarity with this type of interface which offers a range of media and support, together with an online tutor whose presence is friendly and the environment is reassuringly one-to-one.

We learn best when we are having fun!
